We had a great kickoff to VeritageMiami with the Craft Beer Tasting at Wynwood Walls, Thursday, February 13, so now it’s full steam ahead to the Interactive Dinner on Friday, February 28. And on that front, I have good news and, well, less good news.
The less good news (for you if you didn’t get tickets already) is that the event is sold out (which is actually great news for us at VeritageMiami and United Way of Miami-Dade). The good news is that even if you didn’t get tickets you can still take part in the VeritageMiami auction! We have some terrific silent auction lots for wine lovers and you can access the full auction catalog and bid on any item you wish right now.
I’d have a difficult time finding a single favorite auction lot, but there are several I can mention here to entice you into looking at the auction catalog. Of course, there are the headline lots that go into the live auction on Friday night – you could put in a bid now and then if you can’t make the live auction, you can set up a proxy right on the website. So if a chance to own 12 bottles of wine from the Peter Michael Winery appeals to you, here’s your chance – you won’t easily find this wine on a retail shelf.
The Interactive Dinner live auction also will feature a trio of bottles of Screaming Eagle, possibly the most storied cult wine in the U.S., trips, amazing dinners (how about having our guest chef Giorgio Rapicavoli come cook in your home? It’s fun to see just how broad the lineup is of wine, food and lifestyle opportunities.
You can also have a great time exploring a second group of lots we don’t have time to include in the live auction. I think, rather cleverly, we have called this group “almost live” – they form a sort of “super silent” auction and also include some great staycations as well as very enticing wines (like three bottles of the Napa cult favorite Ovid).
And then there is the “regular” silent auction that has a little something for everyone. You could actually purchase one or more of either the “almost live” and silent auction lots before the auction if you are so inclined – we’ve given each of the items a buyout price, or you can just play the auction game and bid away.
Among my favorite wine lots here are two bottles of boutique producer Paul Lato’s grenache/syrah blend called “Kokoro” – I love Lato’s wines (his chardonnay is also great but we don’t have any this year). In addition, there are some great bottles from Alsace, and the very hard-to-find cabernet sauvignon from Napa’s Eisele Vineyard. The Eisele cab is in half-bottles, but if you want something grander in appearance, we have a 3-liter bottle of Scott Palazzo’s fantastic cabernet franc available as well. The wine geek in you will have a great time perusing the offerings, and don’t be afraid to make a bid – you never know just how fortunate you might be in snagging a couple of wine bargains.
It’s easy to find the online auction catalog and you can browse through it even if you don’t plan to bid. Just click on the link, and once on the home page, click “Browse items” and have a ball!
Cheers!
